When is a fire door not a fire door?

... when it is incorrectly fitted

According to a recent industry report, contractors are still not fitting fire doors properly; putting people at risk during a blaze.

The UK's most experienced inspectors have found widespread evidence of poorly fitted fire doors. Their findings include...
• problems with fire or smoke seals
• incorrect signage
• unsuitable hinges
• damage to the door leaf or frame

It is not uncommon to find newly-installed fire doors with incorrect hardware, fixings missing or with unsuitable frames, which are unlikely to perform as required in the event of a fire. A failed inspection by an expert will require that the doors undergo immediate remediation or replacement; which of course can be costly as Article 17 of the Fire Safety Order makes it a legal requirement to ensure that fire resisting doors and escape doors are correctly installed and adequately maintained in order for them to be fit for purpose.

AccentHansen's range of steel fire doors are supplied and fitted under the FIRAS certification, which means they will be installed by competent, expert installers. This will save time and money, and ensure that the doors will perform as expected.
